The Music You Want

I'll start with a topic I know the most about: music. I love music, and I've come across a lot of music that really gets me in the mood for Halloween. There are a few bands I listen to when I'm feeling like Halloween during the year and don't want to feel too lame by just listening to a haunted house soundtrack.
One of these bands--and my favorite of the lot--is The Rasmus. Particularly their album Dead Letters. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to listen to their new album, The Rasmus, but the part I have heard has been equally good. Most of their songs are upbeat, but with a bit of a creepy undertone. They're very subdued despite the loud guitar riffs. I believe I first heard of them on FUSE TV (back when they used to play music videos back to back almost all day). I saw the music video to In The Shadows, and I was hooked. The music video is spooky and the song is amazing. I would love to encourage you to listen up on Spotify (both full albums are on there). Light a candle, turn it up, and lay back. Feel the goth wash over you. Enjoy :)

Another band I really love listening to when I'm feeling both dark and sexy is Rob Zombie. For some reason, his music just oozes sex. It also oozes Halloween spirit. Songs like Living Dead Girl and Dragula are my top go-to songs when it comes to Rob Zombie. I also love Foxy Foxy, though that's more I-plan-to-pole-dance-now rather than I'm-hanging-Halloween-decorations-now. Most of his music, of course, has darker undertones...and overtones. I feel like today is Halloween whenever I'm listening to Rob Zombie because his voice gives that vibe.
A couple of other bands that I dabble in, but don't know much about are Marilyn Manson (all of his covers are fantastic, I also like his song This is the New Shit), Slipknot (Vermillion parts I and II), Breaking Benjamin (Uh, pretty much all of Phobia and We Are Not Alone), Fleetwood Mac (mostly those songs sung by Stevie Nicks like Gypsy, Silver Springs, Rhiannon, and Dreams), as well as Mika (just because his music makes me want to play dress-up like a little kid) and Nine Inch Nails (Starfuckers, Inc., Hurt, The Hand That Feeds, Closer). I mention these particular songs because they send me off to Halloween land in the middle of June, not necessarily because they are Halloween-themed.
And, of course, we can't forget movie soundtracks. I just watched The Shining a couple nights ago. Stressed me the hell out. But anyway, the soundtrack to that sucker is scarier than the movie itself. Have a listen sometime, but you may want to turn on a light. There are also the obvious ones: The Exorcist theme, as well as The X-Files theme, Psycho theme, and (my favorite) Halloween theme. And then, the ultimate, the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack. I know almost every word.

Of course, I intend to keep researching because I completely love music, especially creepy, Halloween-y music. I'll update you as I go. And if you, as the reader, have any good suggestions for me, please share in the comment box! I'd love to know your input :)
